Located in the Kiyotaki River valley, this ancient temple is associated with Kukai. It is known as a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves, and the majestic atmosphere created by the beautiful Tahoto Pagoda and Kondo Hall is a spot that represents Kyoto, where history and nature come together.
Located in Takao, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City, Jingo-ji Temple is a historic temple known for being the abbot of Kobo Daishi Kukai in the early Heian period. Built along the Kiyotaki River valley, Jingo-ji Temple's location a short distance from central Kyoto gives it a quiet and tranquil atmosphere. In particular, during the autumn foliage season, the temple grounds are bathed in fiery reds and yellows, drawing many tourists as one of Kyoto's most famous autumn foliage spots.

To reach the temple grounds, cross Takao Bridge over the Kiyotaki River and climb the long stone steps. These steps are known as "Otokozaka" (Otokozaka), and once you reach the top, a beautiful tower gate will appear before you. The temple grounds are lined with buildings rich in history, including the Kondo Hall, which houses the Yakushi Nyorai statue, a designated National Treasure, and a beautiful pagoda. Another highlight is the Akakai well, which provides water for offerings to the Yakushi Nyorai statue.

There is no parking lot, so you will need to use a private parking lot.
