Located east of Heijo-kyo, this mysterious ancient Buddhist site features tiered pyramid-like earthen towers with carved Buddhist and stone statues, making it a power spot known only to those in the know, offering a sense of the romance of history.
Located in Takabatakecho, Nara City, the historic Zuto Pagoda is a mysterious site where legend has it that the head of the Nara-period monk Genbo was buried. Believed to be a Buddhist site built during the Nara period, it features a pyramidal shape made of stepped earth. Thirteen stone statues, including Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Nio, are embedded in the side of the pagoda, and their intricate carvings convey the deep religious faith of the time.

The entrance may be difficult to find, but it's located in an alley on the south side. If the gate is closed, please call the nearby management office. You can also view it from the "Hotel Wellness" side. To enter, please call the front desk.

[Trivia]
The date and purpose of Zuto's construction remain shrouded in mystery.
