Located in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture, this scenic valley is made up of huge, mysterious rocks. It is a natural power spot where you can enjoy the fresh greenery, autumn foliage, cool summer air, and the magnificent view of the limestone cave.
Located in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture, Chiiwa Gorge is a beautiful valley with majestic rock walls, huge boulders, and clear streams. The vibrant greenery is particularly striking during the spring, while the fiery foliage paints the entire valley in autumn. Walking along the well-maintained promenade along the valley will refresh your body and mind while soaking up negative ions. Chiiwa Gorge is a scenic spot known only to those in the know, where you can experience the power and mystery of nature.

The greatest highlight of Chiiwa Gorge is Chiiwa Cave, located deep within the valley. The gaping cavern in the massive rock wall feels like a gateway to another world. Inside the cave is the impressive Tsutenkyo Bridge, a natural bridge approximately 10 meters high. The light filtering through the trees creates a mystical atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for photography.

Chiiwa Gorge offers a scenic hike through a valley filled with sights, including forest bathing while listening to the murmuring of the clear stream and admiring the scenery of giant boulders and oddly shaped rocks. However, there are also many dangerous areas, so proper preparation, including hiking boots, is necessary.

[Helpful Concerns]
One drawback to Chiiwa Gorge is that there may not be a parking lot nearby.
The road to the parking lot (free) at the entrance to Chiiwa Gorge is sometimes closed, so check in advance. If you cannot find a nearby parking lot, you will have to walk about 30 minutes along the road. There used to be a private parking lot available for a fee, but it is sometimes closed.
Also, the rocks can be quite slippery when hiking, so non-slip sneakers or hiking boots are essential. There have been reports of falls. Stairs and other structures are also dilapidated.
Although there are many beautiful views, there are also many dangerous areas, which may be why the area has been hesitant to develop as a tourist destination.
