Urakuen is a Japanese garden located near Inuyama Castle in Inuyama City, and the teahouse "Joan" within the garden is one of the three most famous tea ceremonies designated as national treasures.
Located in Inuyama City, Aichi Prefecture, Urakuen is a beautiful Japanese garden centered around the National Treasure teahouse, Jo-an. Jo-an was originally built in Kyoto by Oda Urakusai, the younger brother of Oda Nobunaga, and was relocated here. Its refined architectural style and the view of the garden from the teahouse convey the wabi-sabi spirit of the time. While the interior of the teahouse is not open to the public, you can still admire its beautiful beauty up close.

The garden was designed to allow visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery of each season. Cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom in the spring, vibrant greenery in the summer, and autumn foliage adorns the garden in autumn. In particular, during the autumn foliage season, the entire garden is bathed in shades of red and yellow, creating a stunning contrast with Jo-an, creating a stunning view. In addition to Jo-an, the garden is dotted with other historic buildings, including the Important Cultural Property teahouse, Ko-an, and the Moto-an, where you can relax while admiring the garden.

At Urakuen, you can do more than just stroll through the gardens; you can also enjoy matcha tea. At the garden's teahouse, Motoan, you can relax and enjoy matcha and Japanese sweets while admiring the beautiful garden.
Tea is served for 600 yen, and includes a cup of matcha and Japanese sweets. You can easily experience Japanese tea ceremony culture while admiring the teahouse and garden.
