This temple is located on the mysterious island of Chikubushima, floating in Lake Biwa. It is a popular power spot with plenty of attractions, including the main hall, the Karamon gate, a national treasure, and a beautiful statue of Benzaiten.
Chikubushima, a small island in the center of Lake Biwa, has long been known as a sacred place for Benzaiten worship. Hogon-ji Temple is said to have been founded by the monk Gyoki at the request of Emperor Shomu in 724.

Located in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture, Chikubushima is a mystical island in Lake Biwa that has long been worshipped as an island where gods reside. The entire island is considered a power spot, and at its center is Hogon-ji Temple.
