Located in Konan City, this ancient temple boasts a beautiful main hall and three-story pagoda, both designated as national treasures. Surrounded by nature throughout the seasons, it offers particularly spectacular views during the autumn foliage season, making it a popular spot where history and nature come together in harmony.
Chojuji Temple, located in Konan City, Shiga Prefecture, is a historic temple said to have been founded at the command of Emperor Shomu. The main hall, built during the Kamakura period, is a designated National Treasure. Its beautiful architecture, in harmony with the surrounding nature, captivates visitors. The temple grounds are dotted with buildings designated as Important Cultural Properties, such as the Three-Story Pagoda and Amida Hall, giving a sense of its rich history.

Chojuji Temple is said to grant fertility, safe childbirth, and longevity. The principal deity enshrined here is the Koyasu Jizo Bodhisattva, attracting worshippers seeking fertility and safe childbirth. As the temple's name suggests, it is also said to grant longevity.

Chojuji Temple's greatest attraction is its beautiful scenery. Nestled in the mountains, the temple grounds are surrounded by lush nature, allowing visitors to enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the seasons. The autumn foliage, in particular, is known as one of the most spectacular views in the Kansai region, attracting many tourists. The contrast between the bright red autumn leaves and the National Treasure Main Hall is as beautiful as a painting.

[Trivia]
During the Tensho era, Oda Nobunaga relocated the three-story pagoda to his castle, Azuchi Castle, and the tower gate to Rendaiji Temple in Ritto City, resulting in the loss of the main buildings.
Today, what remains of the temple are the National Treasure Main Hall, the Important Cultural Property Bentendo Hall, and the 1800-meter-tall Seated Amida Buddha statue, the Seated Shaka Buddha statue, and the Seated Amida Buddha statue, all of which are Important Cultural Properties.
