Located on the border between Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture, and Shikokuchuo City, Ehime Prefecture, Shiozuka Highlands Observatory is a spectacular spot on the Shiozuka Highlands at an elevation of 1,043 meters. From the observation deck, you can see vast fields of Japanese pampas grass, the majestic Shikoku Mountains, and even the Seto Inland Sea in the distance. In particular, in autumn, the expansive fields of Japanese pampas grass glow a golden yellow, creating a truly magical landscape.

Shiozuka Highlands Observatory's greatest draws are its beautiful scenery and the wide variety of activities available. Enjoy paragliding, camping, hiking, and more on the open plateau, relaxing and forgetting the hustle and bustle of the city. At night, you can gaze upon the starry sky, making it a popular spot for stargazing.

[Hidden Gem]
Nearby, Shiozuka Highlands Campground is a popular spot for camping and barbecuing on the plateau's spacious lawns. The starry sky at night is especially captivating, allowing you to forget about your daily routine and feel refreshed. The campground also offers lodges and bungalows, so even beginners can enjoy the outdoors with peace of mind.

[Useful Tips]
You can drive to the summit, but the road is winding and narrow. While there are some waiting areas, beginner drivers should be careful of oncoming traffic. Also, be aware that some car navigation systems may show extremely rough roads.

There is a toilet at the parking lot at the trailhead of Shiozuka Kogen, but it is a sawdust-based bio-toilet. It's not the most comfortable, but it can be useful in an emergency.
