Tojinbo is located on a steep cliff and is one of Fukui Prefecture's representative tourist destinations.
Tojinbo was formed about 13 million years ago when magma rose close to the surface, cooled and solidified underground. During this cooling and solidifying process, it formed into pentagonal and hexagonal columns. Later, rocks appeared on the surface of the earth due to tectonic movements, and the soft parts of the rocks that appeared were scraped and eroded by waves and wind, resulting in their current shape.

It is also famous as a filming location for suspense dramas, and has been used as a filming location for many TV dramas and movies.

It is also designated as a national natural monument.

There are sightseeing boats that allow you to experience the cliffs from the sea.
