This public observatory is equipped with the 2-meter diameter "Nayuta Telescope." It is a famous spot in Nishi-Harima where you can enjoy stargazing parties and daytime star and sun observations, and enjoy the starry sky in a quiet location on the mountaintop.
Hyogo Prefectural Nishi-Harima Astronomical Observatory Park is a public observatory located on a hill approximately 440 meters above sea level. Its main attraction is "Nayuta," Japan's leading 2-meter reflecting telescope. It's one of the world's largest public telescopes, offering impressive views of the moon, planets, star clusters, and more. On clear days, nighttime stargazing events are held, while daytime "star and sun observation events" using a 60cm telescope are also held. In bad weather, the program switches to an interpretive program. This is a learning hub where you can experience the latest in astronomy.

The park's grassy slopes, centered around the North and South Buildings, offer a pleasant experience simply by lying down and gazing at the starry sky. The site also features a lodge for families and groups, making it a convenient base for camps and starry sky photography (lodging is available for a fee and requires advance reservations).

Special events are also held during summer vacation and meteor shower season. For more information, please visit the official website.
