This soba restaurant is located in an old-style house in the castle town of Bitchu Matsuyama. Hokokuan is a hand-made soba restaurant located near the Konyagawa Bikan Historical Quarter, which retains the atmosphere of a castle town. The calming wooden interior, with tatami rooms and table seating, creates an atmosphere perfect for a relaxing break during your travels. Its location next to the tourist parking lot makes it easy to combine a visit with a stroll around Bitchu Matsuyama Castle or the Raikyu-ji Temple Gardens.

The restaurant's signature dish is its fragrant hand-made soba noodles. In addition to being served with zaru (cold soba), oroshi (grated daikon radish), and kake (soy sauce), the tempura zaru (cold soba) served with freshly fried tempura is also popular.
