This manga museum is located in a quiet town nestled in the mountains. It has a collection of approximately 120,000 books, and the reading room has a reputation for being able to read around 60,000 books freely. It's also recommended as a place to take the kids for a rainy day on the weekend.
The Kibi Kawakami Fureai Manga Museum is a "museum for reading," housing a wide range of books, from rare Taisho-era volumes to the latest releases. In the second-floor reading room, you can lounge around or relax in a comfortable chair, enjoying manga in any way you like. Enjoy original artwork by Honorary Director Ichiro Tominaga, as well as works from city-sponsored contests, both permanent and planned.

The quiet mountainside setting allows for concentrated reading and appreciation. Re-entry to the museum is permitted on the same day, making it ideal for extended family stays (eating and drinking are prohibited, but hydration is permitted). The surrounding area is dotted with popular "manga town" attractions and restaurants, such as Manga Ebuta Park, so it's recommended to go out for lunch and then re-enter the museum (free of charge) in the afternoon.
