Gokokugura Okayama is a direct sales store of Kimise Soy Sauce, a long-established Okayama soy sauce maker, located along National Route 2 Bypass. It is a great driving spot to stop by and enjoy tastings, limited edition souvenirs, and sweet sake and raw soy sauce koji soft serve ice cream.
Founded in 1866, this long-established store is known for its unique mellow aging method in large Bizen ware jars, and for creating flavors rooted in the Seto Inland Sea climate. The store is lined with signature products such as "Mellow Soy Sauce," "Five Grain Fragrant Light Soy Sauce," and "Dashi Soy Sauce," many of which are available for tasting. They make great gifts or as a staple seasoning to have on hand while traveling.

Their relatively affordable prices make them perfect for home use or as gifts.

Their soft serve ice cream, made with a blend of raw soy sauce koji and amazake (sweet sake), is also popular and perfect for a short break during a drive.

Tours of the factory's filling line and storehouse are available free of charge (on request) outside of peak season, with reservations required, so if you're interested, be sure to contact us in advance. You can also learn about the behind-the-scenes manufacturing process, such as filling environmentally friendly paper cartons.
