This urban museum is just a short walk from Tanimachi 4-Chome Station. Experience the ancient and modern world with a full-scale reproduction of the Naniwa Palace Daigokuden Hall and a view of Osaka Castle from the top floor.
The Osaka Museum of History is laid out in a chronological order, from the Naniwa Palace Daigokuden Hall on the 10th floor to the townspeople's quarter on the 9th floor, the excavation site on the 8th floor, and the modern city on the 7th floor. Combining actual artifacts with videos and models, the museum tells the story of Osaka from ancient times to the present. From the top floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Naniwa Palace ruins and Osaka Castle, a must-see view where history and the cityscape overlap.

In addition to artifacts, the museum also recreates the cityscape of the time, allowing you to experience the atmosphere of the time rather than just looking.

Hands-on experience corners are located throughout the exhibits. Popular features include moving a Bunraku puppet head and recreating pottery puzzles, allowing children and adults to participate and learn at the same time. The museum also offers a "Naniwa Palace Ruins Exploration" tour (first 20 people per session), which guides you through the underground remains of the ancient Naniwa Palace, deepening your understanding by going back and forth between the ruins and the exhibits.

Outside the museum, you'll find the Naniwa Palace Ruins Park, a convenient location. We also recommend using the latest AR content, "NaniwaAR," to experience the palace complex as it was in the past superimposed on the actual site.
