At Shiga Prefectural Lake Biwa Museum, visitors can learn about the origins of Lake Biwa and the natural environment of silkworms and mulberry trees through dioramas and a "half-body, half-bone" elephant specimen in Exhibition Room A. In Exhibition Room B, visitors can even experience riding an ancient round-shaped boat using AR technology. The Aquatic Life Exhibition Room features some of Japan's largest collections of freshwater creatures, including the Baikal seal and the Biwa giant catfish, unique to the Kansai region. The Discovery Room and Adult Discovery Area offer experiences that engage the five senses, including touch, smell, and sound, making them enjoyable for both children and adults.

In addition to the museum, visitors can also enjoy the spectacular views of Lake Biwa and the lakeside flora through the canopy trails along the lake's shore. Outdoor exhibits allow visitors to experience the changing natural environment and lakeside ecology, making the stroll itself a learning experience. The museum shop and restaurant inside the building also offer original goods with a Lake Biwa motif and dishes made with local ingredients, making it a popular spot for sightseeing and independent research.
