Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Memorial Museum, Nashikkokan, located in Kurayoshi, is the only museum in Japan with a pear theme. Seasonal pear tastings and pear soft serve are popular.
You can learn about the history, cultivation methods, and varieties of pears through a variety of exhibits and hands-on experiences.
The museum is packed with exhibits that allow you to learn by looking and touching them, including a story theater, an educational theater, and a mysterious garden lined with interactive devices. The museum's symbol is the giant 20th Century pear tree, whose branches spread across the entire hall. You can travel all the way from pear history to cultivation and pears around the world in one go.

During pear season, a specialty event is the "Three Varieties Pear Tasting" (contents change daily and with the season). The attached fruit parlor also serves sweets made with pears, such as soft-serve ice cream and mini parfaits.
