The Takashimizu Trail is a trekking course for beginners, approximately 8.7 km long, that runs along the ridges of virgin forests and highlands on the border between Kagamino Town in Okayama Prefecture and Misasa Town in Tottori Prefecture.
Starting from Ningyo Pass, the approximately 8-8.7km long trail passes through Takashimizu Plateau, Mt. Ouno, Mt. Onrin, Mt. Ikegawa, and Mt. Kirigahara before ending at Mt. Hakushu. Its charm lies in the soft woodchip path and beech forest, with many glimpses of the Chugoku Mountains. Choose from an outward trip, a return trip, or a traverse depending on your fitness level.
The course starts at Ningyo Pass at an elevation of 735m, passes through Takashimizu Plateau at 950m and Mt. Hakushu at 1,044m, and ends at Akawashe at 735m.

The estimated course time is approximately 1 hour 10 minutes for the short distance return trip between Ningyo Pass and Takashimizu Plateau, 2 hours 30 minutes for the return trip through the primeval beech forest, and approximately 4 hours for the full traverse (excluding the Maruyama branch line). The seasons are particularly beautiful, from fresh greenery to autumn foliage (late October to early November), and in spring, you can even encounter clusters of rock fan lilies on Mt. Hakushu.

The trail has relatively few ups and downs, making it an easy hike even for beginners.

The trail is packed with attractions, including the Takashimizu Plateau observation deck and the view of the Chugoku Mountains from the summit of Mt. Hakushu.

The Takashimizu Trail Akawase Parking Lot is located in Kagamino Town, Okayama Prefecture.

The popular rural restaurant Ippukutei is located near the parking lot.
