Sanneizaka is a slope located in Higashiyama Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. It is part of the approach to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and is located on the way from Yasaka Shrine to Kiyomizu-dera Temple. The total length is about 100 meters, and there is a continuous cobblestone slope.
The name Sanneizaka comes from the Koyasuto pagoda of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, which is said to be a place of worship for safe childbirth. Koyasuto is worshiped as the god of prayers for safe childbirth, and it is said that if you pass through Sanneizaka and visit Kiyomizu-dera Temple, you will have a safe childbirth. For this reason, Sannezaka came to be called ``Sannezaka.''

Sannenzaka is one of Kyoto's representative tourist spots. The souvenir shops and teahouses lining the stone-paved slopes allow you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto. Sannezaka is also known as a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. In spring, about 200 cherry trees are in full bloom and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery.
