Kibitsuhiko Shrine in Okayama City is the Ichinomiya of Bizen Province and is associated with the Momotaro legend. The main hall, bathed in the morning sun, is called Asahi no Miya (Palace of the Morning Sun) and is famous for granting good fortune in matchmaking and safe childbirth.
Kibitsuhiko Shrine is located in Ichinomiya, Kita-ku, Okayama City, and is the Ichinomiya of Bizen Province (the shrine with the highest status in Bizen Province), where Ookibitsuhiko-no-Mikoto, who is said to be the model for Momotaro, is enshrined as the main deity. Kibi-no-Nakayama is the sacred mountain, and the shrine is located at its eastern foot, so it is also called "Miya of the Morning Sun" because the shrine is built so that the sun rises from the front torii gate on the summer solstice and the light shines into the Saimon-den. In March 2025, six shrine buildings other than the main hall were designated as Important Cultural Properties of Okayama Prefecture, and their historical value was re-evaluated.

In the precincts, there is a "Momotaro statue" associated with the Momotaro legend, and the cute peach-shaped "Momo-mamori" and "Momo-mikuji" are popular souvenirs. The shrine is also worshiped as a god of matchmaking, safe childbirth, and child-rearing, and many worshippers visit the shrine. In particular, the "Crane Island" and "Turtle Island" floating in the sacred pond are known as symbols of longevity.

Kibitsuhiko Shrine is easily accessible, about a 3-minute walk from JR Bizen-Ichinomiya Station, making it a power spot that you can easily drop by. The solemn atmosphere of the main hall and worship hall, and the grounds, which are in harmony with the beautiful nature of the four seasons, will soothe your soul. Why not experience the sacred air of this place, where history and legend live on?

Koyasu Shrine, with its beautiful vermilion color, is said to be deeply revered as the god of matchmaking, fertility, safe childbirth, childcare, and family harmony.

From Kibitsuhiko Shrine, if you drive on National Route 180 towards Soja City, you will reach Kibitsu Shrine in about 10 minutes, and Mogami Inari Shrine is about 20 minutes away, so it is worth visiting both if time permits.
