Mount Sephiko, towering over Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, is one of the three mountain ranges in Japan that are made up of a series of rocky peaks. It is a mountain for advanced climbers, with thrilling mountain trails that feature a series of chain sections and climbing elements.
Mount Seppiko, located in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, is a sacred mountain that is counted among the "Three Hiko Mountains of Japan" along with Mount Hiko and Mount Yahiko. Although it is not particularly high at 915.2m above sea level, its distinctive features are the rugged terrain created by rock peaks and the thrilling mountain trails with numerous chain and chain sections. In particular, the areas around "Jizo-dake" and "Daitendake" are full of steep rocky areas and almost vertical chain sections, and even advanced climbers will need to concentrate on the route. Since it also includes elements of climbing, it is recommended for those with extensive mountain climbing experience and those who are accustomed to walking on rocky areas. It is necessary to be properly equipped and prepared, and to take safety into consideration.

[Concerns]
Mount Seppiko is also a very dangerous place due to its characteristic chain and rocky areas. Especially in rainy weather and when there is remaining snow, the rocks become slippery and the risk of falling rocks increases. Beginners should never climb the mountain alone, or enter the mountain lightly dressed. Be sure to be accompanied by an experienced climber and wear all necessary safety equipment, including helmets, gloves, and appropriate climbing shoes. Be aware of sudden changes in the weather and avoid extreme behavior.

There are multiple climbing routes to Mount Hiko, but even the general circular route offers a varied terrain and a sense of accomplishment in climbing over rocky areas. The view from the summit is a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and the Seto Inland Sea in the distance, and is so spectacular that it makes all the hard work worthwhile. In particular, the view from the rocky peaks is very impressive and can be said to be the real pleasure of Mount Hiko.

Mount Hiko, where you can enjoy both beautiful nature and the challenge of climbing, is like a holy place for climbing enthusiasts in the Kansai region. During the autumn foliage season, the contrast between the colorful trees and the rocky peaks is wonderful, and many climbers visit.

The parking lot and trailhead are located near the Mount Hiko bungalows.
