The train departs from Kisuki Station around 10:00 a.m. and takes about two and a half hours each way.
The one-way fare from Kisuki Station to Bingo-Ochiai Station is 1,140 yen, and the reserved seat fee is 520 yen for adults.
Local delicacies such as trolley bento, Nita beef bento, bamboo sushi, and grilled mackerel sushi are also popular.
There are also three-stage switchbacks that will delight railway fans, as well as a superb view of Japan's largest double loop, the Okuizumo Orochi Loop.
