Located in Hofu City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, the Mori Family Garden is a cultural asset consisting of a magnificent structure built in the Meiji period as the main residence of the Mori Family, who flourished as feudal lords of the Choshu Domain during the Edo period, and a vast pond-centered strolling garden. The approximately 80,000 m2 site is skillfully arranged with artificial hills, waterfalls, stone bridges, and other features around a gracefully curved pond, and visitors can enjoy the flowers and trees of the four seasons. It shows various expressions throughout the year, with cherry blossoms in spring, irises and azaleas in early summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter.

At the back of the garden is the Mori Museum, which is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. This museum stores and exhibits approximately 20,000 valuable items, including armor, swords, calligraphy, paintings, and crafts handed down by the Mori Family, allowing visitors to experience the depth of the history and culture of the Mori Family. In particular, the national treasure "Four Seasons Landscape Paintings" are a must-see. Part of the mansion is open to the public, allowing visitors to get a glimpse into the lifestyle of the feudal lords of the time.

This is a highly recommended spot for those who are interested in history and Japanese gardens, or who want to spend some relaxing time surrounded by beautiful scenery.
