"Roadside Station Silkway Nichihara" is a roadside station along the Takatsu River, known as one of Japan's cleanest rivers. It was named after the fact that cultures and products from various regions were transported here like the Silk Road. Here, you can find a wide variety of local specialties that have been nurtured by the rich nature, such as fresh vegetables and fruits just picked in Tsuwano Town and the surrounding area, river fish such as sweetfish that are a bounty of the Takatsu River, and game meat. The products that are carefully made by local producers are extremely fresh and are very popular as souvenirs.

In addition to the product sales store, there is also a restaurant where you can enjoy meals made with local ingredients such as wild sweetfish and wasabi. In particular, fresh river fish dishes and game dishes such as wild boar meat are popular as flavors unique to this region. It is an exceptional experience to enjoy a meal in nature while listening to the murmuring of the Takatsu River.

At the waterfront park in front of the roadside station, you can experience playing in the river, fishing, canoeing, etc.

The Takatsu River is known as one of the "last pure rivers in Japan" along with the Shimanto River, and because there are no dams, the water quality is very good. For that reason, the sweetfish caught in the Takatsu River are said to have such a strong fragrance that they are also called "fragrant fish."
