Kawatana Camphor Forest is a huge camphor tree that is said to be 1000 years old. Branches and leaves extend horizontally as wide as 58m.
Located in Toyoura-cho, Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Kawatana Kusunoki Forest is a colony of giant camphor trees that has been designated a national natural monument. There are more than 100 camphor trees, each said to be hundreds of years old, with thick trunks and branches stretching powerfully toward the sky, creating an overwhelming presence. In particular, the giant tree known as the "crown" with a trunk circumference of over 11 meters is a spectacular sight, and its majestic appearance fascinates visitors. The entire forest has a mysterious atmosphere.

It is popular as one of Shimonoseki's most popular power spots.

Camphor trees have been revered as sacred trees since ancient times, and are also known for their unique fragrance. When you stroll through the forest, you will feel the refreshing air and the unique camphor scent, which will refresh both your body and mind.
