It is a castle located in Tottori city and is designated as one of Japan's Top 100 Castles.
Located on Kyushozan in Tottori City, Tottori Castle is a complex of mountain and flatland castles that was the center of the Tottori domain for about 200 years. During the Sengoku period, it was the site of the tragic "Starvation of Tottori" during a battle between Hideyoshi Hashiba and the Mori army to starve the area.

The castle tower no longer exists, but the stone walls, moats, and gates remain in good condition, conveying the scale and solidity of the castle at that time. In particular, the very rare round stone walls are the only ones of their kind in Japan.

The castle ruins are integrated with the nature of Kyushozan, and as you climb the stone steps and slopes, you will come across stone walls one after another that give you a sense of the weight of history. At the top of the mountain, there is the remains of the main citadel, which can be climbed in about 30 minutes.
From the remains of the main citadel at the top of the mountain, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view of Tottori city, the Sea of Japan, and even the Tottori Sand Dunes in the distance.

On the adjacent site is Jinpukakaku.

Parking is free. You can use the parking lot at the Tottori Prefectural Government Office for free.

[Trivia]
The water siege of Tottori Castle is one of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's three major water sieges, and has gone down in history as a tragic battle that shows the extreme conditions of a siege. The remains of the Taiko Tower and stone walls that are said to have been used at the time still remain within the castle ruins.

[Useful concerns]
There have been confirmed sightings of bears throughout Tottori Prefecture, and a warning has been issued on Mount Hisamatsu near Tottori Castle. According to elderly locals who walk around the castle, you don't encounter bears very often, but if you go to see the stone walls at the top of the mountain, it may be a good idea to bring a bear bell.
