Located in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, this is the second-highest shrine in Aki Province, following Itsukushima Shrine, and is famous as the guardian deity of traffic safety.
Hayatani Shrine is an ancient shrine located in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, and is one of the three major shrines in Aki Province. It has a history of 1,800 years, and is said to have been the most deified shrine in the eight provinces of the Sanyo Road during the Heian period.

It is especially revered as the guardian deity of road safety, and many people come from far away to have their vehicles purified. Worshippers are constantly coming to the shrine throughout the year, as they can also receive blessings such as protection from misfortune, safety of the home, good health, and bountiful harvests.

The main deity enshrined is Aohayatama-no-Mikoto, who appears in Japanese mythology, and is widely known for his divine virtue as the god of road safety. A sacred tree that is said to be hundreds of years old stands in the precincts, and a solemn and refreshing air permeates the air.

The shrine building has a beautiful appearance that harmonizes with the rich nature around it. The scenery of the precincts, which changes with the seasons, is also one of its attractions. Especially during the autumn foliage season, the trees in the temple grounds take on vibrant colors, making it a spectacular spot that is visited by many photography enthusiasts.
