The Tower of the Sun in Expo Commemoration Park, designed by artist Taro Okamoto, is the symbol of the 1970 Osaka Expo. This work of art, which contains a powerful message for the future, continues to inspire and energize visitors.
The Tower of the Sun in Expo Commemoration Park in Suita, Osaka, was created by artist Taro Okamoto as part of the theme pavilion for the 1970 Japan World Expo (Osaka Expo). The gigantic tower, about 70 meters tall, features a unique form with three faces: a "sun face" on the front, a "black sun" on the back, and a "golden face" on the top. It sends out a strong message that questions the essence of human existence, which is different from the theme of the Expo, "Progress and Harmony of Mankind."

In 2018, the interior of the tower, which had been closed due to deterioration, was restored and reopened to the public. Inside, a huge object once called the "Tree of Life" stands tall, and an exhibit is displayed that depicts the evolution of life from amoebas to the birth of humans. You can climb to a height of about 41 meters and feel the power of the objects on the walls and the excitement of the time of the Expo. A tour of the interior requires a reservation, and it will be a valuable experience.

The park has large playground equipment for children to play on and a Japanese garden. There is also a fairly large grassy area where many families play ball games.
