Roadside Station Kusatsu Green Plaza Karasuma is located in a scenic spot facing the eastern shore of Lake Biwa in Kusatsu City, Shiga Prefecture. With the vast expanse of Lake Biwa right in front of you, the perfect location allows you to refresh yourself while enjoying the nature of the lakeside. Many tourists stop here to take a break from driving, and many also come to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The sunset over Lake Biwa is particularly beautiful at dusk, creating a romantic atmosphere. On clear days, you can enjoy a magnificent view that stretches all the way to Mt. Hiei and the Hira mountain range on the opposite shore.

The greatest attraction of this roadside station is its direct sales store, which offers a wide selection of fresh agricultural products and specialty products harvested locally in Kusatsu City and Shiga Prefecture. In particular, you can get delicious seasonal ingredients such as vegetables and fruits blessed by Lake Biwa, and Omi rice, which Shiga Prefecture is proud of.
The store is known for being a safe place to shop, with products lovingly made by local farmers on display. There is also a wide selection of souvenirs unique to Shiga, such as processed foods made from species endemic to Lake Biwa, local confectioneries, and handicrafts.

Organically grown Omi brown rice and Omi beef, known for its fine marbling and tender meat, are on sale.

Mizuho-no-Yu, a super public bathhouse, is located nearby (about 10 minutes by car).
