Garyuzakura, located in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, is called Garyuzakura because its branches and trunk resemble the shape of a dragon, and is estimated to be 1100 years old.
It is a large Edohigan cherry tree, one of Japan's most famous, with a branch spread of 30 meters, a height of 20 meters, and a trunk circumference of 7.3 meters.

The best time to see the Garyu Sakura is usually from mid-April to late April. During this time, the Garyu Sakura Festival is held every year, attracting many visitors.

There is no illumination (however, lanterns are lit in the garden).
