Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse was originally built as a bonded warehouse by the Meiji government, and is a retro commercial facility that gives you a sense of the history of Yokohama Port. You can enjoy shopping, gourmet food, and events along with the beautiful seaside scenery.
The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a historic building built as a model warehouse for the country from the end of the Meiji period to the beginning of the Taisho period. It has long been a symbol of Yokohama Port and was reborn as a cultural and commercial facility in 2002. While the retro exterior remains intact, the interior is filled with many unique shops, restaurants and cafes where you can enjoy shopping and dining.
Various events are held throughout the year in the spacious plaza. Flower gardens, beer gardens, Christmas markets and art illuminations attract visitors with different charms according to the season of spring, summer, autumn and winter. In particular, it is lit up at night, and the romantic atmosphere that blends into the night view of Yokohama makes it a popular date spot for young couples.
[Trivia]
The Red Brick Warehouse was once the first large steel-framed warehouse built in Japan. It is a building that has endured the damage of the Great Kanto Earthquake and has continued to watch over the history of Yokohama.
[Hidden Spot]
The balcony space on the second floor of Red Brick Warehouse No. 2 is a hidden spot where you can enjoy a more open view of Yokohama Port and Minato Mirai. There are also benches set up, so it is recommended for those who want to relax and enjoy the scenery away from the hustle and bustle of the event. Also, on nice days, it is nice to enjoy a picnic on the grassy area around the Red Brick Warehouse.
