Mt. Oyama is a sacred mountain with an altitude of 1,252 m located in Tanzawa-Oyama Quasi-National Park. You can take a cable car up to Oyama Afuri Shrine.
Oyama (Tanzawa) is a sacred mountain with an elevation of 1,252 meters, located at the eastern end of the Tanzawa Mountains. It has long been worshipped as a sacred place for Shugendo and as a god of rainmaking. From the summit, you can see the Kanto Plain, and on a clear day, you can see a panoramic view of Tokyo Skytree, Mt. Fuji, and Sagami Bay.

You can take the Oyama Cable Car to Oyama Afuri Shrine, located halfway up the mountain, so anyone can access it relatively easily if they are visiting for the purpose of worship. (There are stairs, etc.)

Oyama Afuri Shrine is worshiped as the god of water, mountain, and thunder, and is said to be particularly beneficial for rainmaking, business prosperity, and household safety. It is a place where you can feel the majesty of history and nature.
Even without climbing Oyama, the view from Oyama Afuri Shrine, overlooking Sagami Bay including Enoshima, is spectacular.

The cable car leaves every 20 minutes.
If you take the train, take bus number 4 from Isehara Station on the Odakyu Line and get off at the last stop, "Oyama Cable."

[About climbing Oyama]
If you start from Afuri Shrine Shimosha, go from Omotesando to Fujimidai to the summit of Oyama, and descend via Miharashidai, it will take about 5 hours (with breaks).
If you don't take the circular route but go to the summit and back, it will take about 3 hours (round trip).

[Trivia]
During the Edo period, Oyama was popular among the common people as "Oyama Pilgrimage," and many people came to worship. On the mountain trail, there are many stone monuments of religious groups called "kochu," which retain the atmosphere of that time.

[Hidden gem]
If you get off at Oyamaji Station on the cable car and head to Oyama Afuri Shrine Shimosha, you will find "Amagasaki Oyama Temple," an ancient temple known as a famous spot for viewing autumn leaves. Especially in the autumn foliage season, the temple grounds are decorated with beautiful maples, allowing you to enjoy the scenery in a tranquil atmosphere. In addition, the hiking trail from Oyama Afuri Shrine Shimosha to the summit is dotted with spots where you can feel the richness of nature, such as Meoto Sugi (Couple Cedars) and virgin beech forests.
It takes about 30 minutes to walk from Oyama Kanko Dentetsu Oyama Cable Station to Afuri Shrine Station. You can also pass by Oyama Temple on the way.
