An ancient shrine associated with Minamoto no Yoritomo. Worshipped as a god of business prosperity and good fortune, it is attractive for its beautiful grounds and history.
Mishima Taisha Shrine is an ancient shrine revered as the Ichinomiya of Izu Province, located in Mishima City, the gateway to the Izu Peninsula. It was founded long ago and is said to have existed as early as the Nara period. It is particularly known that Minamoto no Yoritomo had deep faith in the shrine when he raised an army and prayed for the revival of the Genji clan, and its history is deeply connected to the establishment of the Kamakura Shogunate. The current shrine building was rebuilt in the Edo period and is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and its magnificent architectural beauty is a must-see.

The enshrined deities are Oyamatsumi no Mikoto and Tsumihayae Kotoshironushi no Kami, and since ancient times it has been said to bring various benefits, such as business prosperity, household safety, matchmaking, and protection from evil.

The grounds are spacious and solemn, with a beautiful garden and many other sights to see, including the Mishima Taisha Osmanthus, a designated national natural monument.

[Trivia]
As the "Ichinomiya of Izu Province," Mishima Taisha has long been the guardian deity of the region. There is also a deer park on the grounds, where many deer are kept, providing a soothing atmosphere for visitors.

Free admission (Admission to the Treasure Museum is charged: 500 yen for adults, 400 yen for university and high school students, 300 yen for junior high and elementary school students)
