Located at the southernmost tip of Izu, this beautiful, arch-shaped beach of white sand has gentle waves and is popular with families.
Yumigahama Beach is a beautiful beach located in Minamiizu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture, and is curved in a bow shape as its name suggests. The white sand beach stretches for about 1.2 kilometers, and the water is fine, shallow, and the waves are gentle, so even families with small children can enjoy swimming in the sea with peace of mind. It has been selected as one of the "100 Best Beaches in Japan" and "100 Best Beaches in Japan," and its beauty is highly praised.
The beach is surrounded by capes on both sides, and is characterized by relatively quiet and calm waters. The water is also highly transparent, so you can enjoy snorkeling and playing on the rocks. In the summer, the marine athletic facility "Yumigahama Splash Water Park" is also opened (for a fee), and it attracts even more tourists.
The view of the Izu Seven Islands is also wonderful, and it is recommended not only to swim in the sea, but also to enjoy the scenery of the Izu Seven Islands while swimming in the sea.
There are hot spring inns and guesthouses scattered around the area, and it is attractive that you can enjoy hot springs in addition to swimming in the sea.
[Hidden gem] Right next to Yumigahama is a small beach called "Ougahama," which is a relatively hidden gem. It's perfect for playing on the rocks and snorkeling, and you can enjoy the ocean in a more natural state. Also, at the back of Yumigahama is the "Tarai Cape Promenade," and if you walk here, you'll find a great spot with a panoramic view of Yumigahama and the Izu Seven Islands.
