Senjogahara is a vast marshland in Nikko National Park, located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture. The name is said to come from a myth that the gods of Mt. Nantai and Mt. Akagi once fought here. The marshland, which spreads at an altitude of about 1,400 meters, boasts an area of about 400 hectares and remains untouched by nature. About 350 species of plants grow in the marshland, and various wild birds live there, showing different beautiful expressions in each season.

A well-maintained boardwalk (promenade) continues for about 5.5 kilometers in the marshland, and you can easily enjoy observing alpine plants and wild birds while walking in the middle of the marshland. In particular, the golden gradation of the marshland, called cotton grass and Renge azalea, spreads out in early summer, and the grass maple leaves spread in autumn, and the breathtaking scenery attracts visitors.
