AEON Mall Okayama is one of the largest urban shopping malls in Western Japan, directly connected to JR Okayama Station via the underground passage "Haretchika." With around 350 diverse tenants, including fashion, miscellaneous goods, food, restaurants, cafes, and movie theaters, it is a popular spot for both locals and tourists as a commercial facility that can be enjoyed all day long. In particular, since it is directly connected to the station and can be accessed without getting wet even on rainy days, it is a valuable indoor spot that can be enjoyed without worrying about the weather when planning a trip to Okayama.
The vast seven-story site is lined with a wide variety of stores, from popular domestic and international brands to unique shops rooted in the local area. Apparel covers a wide range of demographics, from "WEGO," popular with young people, to "URBAN RESEARCH," which is for more mature people. There is also a lifestyle goods store "Loft" and a large bookstore "Miraiya Bookstore," making it a great place to kill time as well as just shop. Food is also plentiful, and the food floor "Haremachi Kitchen" on the first basement floor is like a department store basement. This is an area that tourists should definitely stop by to choose souvenirs, with prepared dishes made with fresh local ingredients from Okayama and the popular sweet "Momotaro's Kibi Dango."

In the restaurant area, you can try Okayama's specialty demi-katsudon at the well-known local "Katsudokoro Kinoya," or go for a hearty meal at the national chain "Ikinari! Steak." There are plenty of cafes, and we recommend taking a break at the spacious Hoshino Coffee Shop or the terrace seating at Starbucks Coffee. There are also plenty of entertainment facilities, and Aeon Cinema Okayama has the latest equipment, making it a must-see for movie fans. Regularly held events are lively, and the place is especially crowded with local families on weekends, but that also makes it feel lively.

The excellent accessibility of being directly connected to Okayama Station is the most convenient even from the perspective of a seasoned travel reporter. For tourists who visit by Shinkansen or conventional train, it is very appreciated that you can stop by right after exiting the ticket gate. It is also a great way to kill time while waiting for a train, making arrangements for your flight, or when you are caught in a sudden rain shower. Although it does not emphasize the local color, it may be interesting for tourists visiting Okayama to get a glimpse of the everyday shopping mall culture of the local people. However, since it is so vast, it is wise to narrow down your purpose and go around efficiently.
