Yatoginotaki Falls is a waterfall located in Tsuno Town, Koyu District, Miyazaki Prefecture, and has been selected as one of Japan's 100 best waterfalls. It is an elegant waterfall where the clear water flows down the rock face, and the fresh greenery and autumn leaves are beautiful.
Yaken Falls is a waterfall where water flows from Mt. Tsunozaki (1071m) east of Mt. Osuzu, and falls in several streams down a 73m rock wall. Many rocks lie below the waterfall, which are thought to have fallen due to long-term erosion of the rock wall.

In particular, during the season of fresh greenery and autumn leaves, the contrast between the surrounding nature and the waterfall is more striking, creating an even more beautiful landscape.

The name Yaken Falls comes from the legend that Emperor Jimmu, the first emperor who appears in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, sharpened his arrows at this waterfall during his eastern expedition.

There is a walking path around the waterfall basin, so you can get relatively close and experience its power. The roar of the waterfall and the rising water spray really make you feel the breath of nature. It is about 30 minutes from the parking lot. Entry is prohibited near the waterfall, so you cannot get very close.

The area around the parking lot is Osuzu Prefectural Park, and the water is very clear.

[Useful points of concern]
The forest road to the waterfall has unpaved sections and is narrow, and there are places where it is difficult to pass oncoming vehicles, so caution is required if you are inexperienced in driving or have a low-clearance car. In winter, there is a high possibility that the road will be closed due to snow accumulation and frozen roads, making it difficult to visit. There is a portable toilet in the parking lot.
