Sendan Todoroki Falls is a 70m waterfall located on a tributary of the Kawabe River, deep in Gokasho, known for the legend of the Heike fugitives. It is also one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan. It was named after a large sandalwood tree that once stood near the waterfall, and "Todoroki" means waterfall in Gokasho.

You can see the whole waterfall from the waterfall viewing platform along the road, and if you cross the suspension bridge, you can get close to the waterfall basin. You can walk about 15 minutes on the paved promenade to the waterfall viewing platform, and descend the stairs to experience the power up close.

The surrounding area is Sendan Todoroki Forest Park. There is a large parking lot upstream of the waterfall, and from there, there is a promenade (part of the Kyushu Nature Trail Gokasho Course) that passes near the waterfall basin and leads to the Sendan Todoroki Suspension Bridge.

The colors of the seasons, such as the fresh greenery of spring, the autumn leaves, and the snow-covered winter, are also worth seeing. The nearby Sendan Todoroki Park has toilets and rest areas, and you can enjoy exploring this quiet, unexplored place along with the beauty of the deep mountain valley.
