Goshikizuka Kofun is the largest keyhole-shaped tumulus in Hyogo Prefecture, built in the late 4th century. It is 194 meters long, 82.4 meters wide at the front, 13 meters high, 125.5 meters in diameter at the rear, 18.8 meters high, and surrounded by a moat.

It is known that many haniwa, such as cylindrical haniwa with fins and morning glory-shaped haniwa, were placed on the mound. In addition, valuable items such as bronze mirrors, jewels, and iron products have been excavated as grave goods.

You can see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge from the top of the tumulus. The grass around the tumulus is also well-maintained, which goes perfectly with the tumulus, and although the surrounding area is a residential area, it has a sacred atmosphere.

Admission and parking are both free, so you can drop in any time.

[Useful concerns]
The parking lot and the tumulus are fenced off outside of business hours and cannot be entered. Although you can view it from the outside, it's best to visit during opening hours as it's in a residential area and there's no parking available apart from the car park.
