Hasedera Temple is a historic temple in Kamakura that was founded in 736. It is attractive for its eleven-faced Kannon statue, seasonal flowers, and the magnificent view from the observation deck. It is also famous as a hydrangea viewing spot.
Hasedera Temple is an ancient temple located in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, with a history of over 1,300 years since its founding. The principal image of the temple, the eleven-headed Kannon Bodhisattva, is known as one of the largest wooden Kannon statues in Japan, boasting a height of 9.18 meters, and attracts many worshippers. The temple stands on a hill overlooking Sagami Bay, and the temple grounds offer a panoramic view of Yuigahama and the Kamakura cityscape, and the beauty of the scenery is also a reason for its popularity. It is a peaceful place where the history and nature of the ancient city of Kamakura blend together.

The temple grounds are lined with buildings such as the Eleven-Headed Kannon Hall, the Three-Storied Pagoda, the Bell Tower, the Niomon Gate, and the Benzaiten Hall. In addition to the Kannon Hall, there are many other things to see, such as the Amida Hall, the sutra repository, and the Benten Cave.

The charm of this temple is the beautiful scenery and the colorful flowers that bloom with the seasons. The temple is especially famous for its "Hydrangea Path," where about 2,500 hydrangeas bloom in abundance during the rainy season, creating a truly spectacular sight. In addition, the temple grounds are decorated with a variety of flowering trees throughout the year, including cherry blossoms in the spring, azaleas in early summer, and autumn leaves in the fall, so the temple offers a different look every time you visit.
