The Karuizawa Senju Hiroshi Museum of Art is a museum dedicated to Japanese painter Hiroshi Senju, located in Karuizawa Town, Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture. The museum is attractive for its space that combines the building and garden designed by Ryue Nishizawa.
The Karuizawa Senju Hiroshi Museum is an art museum located in the rich nature of Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. It exhibits works by Hiroshi Senju, a representative Japanese painter, and you can particularly appreciate his representative works such as the "Waterfall" series painted at Ground Zero in New York and his masterpiece "Dragon God". The building was designed by architect Ryue Nishizawa, and features a gently sloping floor, creating a unique space where the artwork and nature are one.

The greatest attraction of the museum is the fusion of architecture and nature. Inside the museum, glass walls are arranged around the courtyard, so you can feel the rich nature of Karuizawa no matter where you are. In particular, the courtyard, which changes with the seasons, is named the "Color Leaf Garden" for its beauty, and about 150 types of plants are planted. This museum is unique in that you can enjoy the different scenery each season - fresh greenery in spring, cool shade in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter - while appreciating the artworks.

The museum's architecture is characterized by a design that makes extensive use of curves, based on glass and wood, and is based on Senju Hiroshi's theme of "harmony between nature and humans."
The museum grounds include a garden designed by Senju Hiroshi, where you can appreciate beautiful flowers and plants throughout the seasons.

Other museums in Karuizawa include the Karuizawa Museum of Contemporary Art, Sezon Museum of Modern Art, and Tazaki Museum of Art.
