The Diet Building is the parliament building where the Japanese Diet is held.
The building was built in 1936 as the Imperial Diet Building.
The National Diet Building is located in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, and is the political center of Japan. Completed in 1936, this building features a symmetrical and majestic design, with an impressive 65-meter tower in the center. As a symbol of Japanese democracy, its profound architectural beauty attracts many people. The National Diet Building is the seat of the Japanese parliament, which has a bicameral system of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors, and important discussions that determine the future of Japan are held every day.

The inside of the National Diet Building is open to the public, and you can visit either the House of Representatives or the House of Councilors. On the tour, you will be guided to places that are not usually open to the public, such as the main conference hall, the central hall, and the resting place. In particular, the central hall features bronze statues of Hirobumi Ito, Shigenobu Okuma, and Taisuke Itagaki, and you can feel the breath of the great men who built the foundation of modern Japanese politics. A variety of materials have been used inside the building, with domestic stone and wood being a notable feature.

Anyone can join a tour for free on weekdays by checking in at the visitor reception desk.
