Located in Ginza, Tokyo, this is the hall of fame for the traditional Japanese art of Kabuki. Combining gorgeous performing arts and stately architectural beauty, you can experience Japanese culture on a deeper level.
Kabukiza is a theater dedicated to Kabuki, located in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Since its opening in 1889, it has continued to attract many great actors and audiences as a hall of fame for Kabuki, a traditional Japanese art. The current building is the fifth generation and was newly opened in 2013. The exterior is a heavy Japanese-style building that incorporates the Momoyama style, and its magnificent appearance is particularly eye-catching among the Ginza streetscape. Its appearance, which seems to condense traditional Japanese beauty, expresses the world of Kabuki.

The greatest attraction of Kabukiza is that you can experience its gorgeous and profound theatrical art up close. Kabuki is a comprehensive art that combines singing, dancing, and acting, and its unique stylized beauty and the actors' expressions such as their "mie" and "kumadori" overwhelm the audience. The repertoire ranges from historical pieces to those depicting the lives of ordinary people, and even first-timers can enjoy a wide range of performances, with a "one-act seat" that allows you to easily experience the world of Kabuki.

Kabukiza is not just a place to watch Kabuki, but also a facility where you can enjoy Japanese culture in general. In the basement, there is Kobikicho Square, where souvenir shops and restaurants are gathered, where you can purchase Kabuki-related goods and Japanese sweets. There is also a rooftop garden and gallery, and it is recommended to stroll around before the show or during intermissions.
