Located in Tokyo's Bunkyo Ward, this is a feudal lord's garden from the early Edo period. This beautiful stroll-style garden with a pond allows you to enjoy the nature and history of the four seasons, helping you forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
Koishikawa Korakuen is located in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, and was built in the Edo residence of the Mito Tokugawa family in the early Edo period. It is one of the most historic feudal gardens in Tokyo. It is a "pond-centered strolling garden" with a pond at its center, and incorporates the ideas of Ming dynasty Confucian scholar Zhu Shunshui, incorporating landscapes that imitate scenic spots in China throughout the garden. Although it is surrounded by buildings in the city center, the vast grounds and lush greenery give visitors a sense of tranquility and peace. It is also a valuable cultural asset designated as a special national historic site and special place of scenic beauty.

The greatest attraction of this garden is its excellent scenery and the beautiful expressions it shows in each season. The artificial hills, stones, and trees are skillfully arranged around the central "large pond," so that you can enjoy different views every time you walk through it. In particular, you can enjoy the beauty of nature throughout the year, with plum and cherry blossoms in spring, fresh greenery and hydrangeas in summer, fiery red leaves in autumn, and snowy scenery in winter. Structures modeled after scenic spots in China, such as Tsutenkyo Bridge and Engetsukyo Bridge, also serve as accents to the garden.

Koishikawa Korakuen is not just a place to stroll around, it is a place where you can deeply experience the beauty and history of traditional Japanese gardens.
