Located in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, this is a World Heritage site that depicts the original Japanese scenery. Dotted with Gassho-style houses, you can experience traditional life and the abundance of nature.
Gokayama Ainokura Gassho-style Village is a World Heritage Site located in Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture, where the original Japanese landscape remains. In a remote area surrounded by deep mountains, 20 "Gassho-style" houses with steeply sloping thatched roofs remain, conveying Japan's traditional rural landscape to the present day. In an area with heavy snowfall, the Gassho-style houses, designed to withstand heavy snowfall, were registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995 along with Shirakawa-go as a symbol of the wisdom and culture of people who coexist with nature.

The greatest charm of this village is its unique landscape and the fact that traditional ways of life still live on. Walking through the village, you will feel the quiet and tranquil flow of time as if time has stopped. People still live in each house, and you can get a glimpse of part of their lives. In particular, the contrast between the lush mountains and thatched roofs in the season of fresh greenery, the fiery red leaves in autumn, and the fantastic scenery of snow in winter make this a popular spot for photography enthusiasts.

The area is also lit up every year from April to November, creating a fantastic atmosphere.

Gokayama Ainokura Gassho-style Village is not just a place to enjoy the scenery, but also a place to experience traditional culture. Within the village, there is a museum, restaurants, and souvenir shops, where you can experience the history and culture of the Gokayama region and the local flavors.
