This is a historic shrine located in Kamiyoshida, Fujiyoshida City. It is located at the starting point of the north trail to Mount Fuji, and attracts many believers as the main guardian of Mount Fuji. The 1,000-year-old sacred tree and vermilion-painted shrine building create a solemn atmosphere, and it is also popular as a power spot.
Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine is located in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, and is the base of worship of Mt. Fuji, which worships Mt. Fuji as a sacred mountain. It is said to have been founded long ago, with a history of over 1,900 years, and is registered as one of the components of the Mt. Fuji World Heritage Site. The grounds are surrounded by thick, giant cedar trees, and are enveloped in a solemn and mysterious atmosphere, giving visitors a sense of pure air and awe.

It is also part of the World Heritage Site as "Mt. Fuji - an object of worship and a source of artistic inspiration." 11 buildings, including the main hall, worship hall, Zuishinmon gate, and mikoshi storehouse, have been designated as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.

The greatest attraction of this shrine is its historical weight and the deep faith in Mt. Fuji. There are many things to see in the precincts, including a married couple of cypress trees that are said to be over 1000 years old, a torii gate that is a symbol of worship at Mt. Fuji, and the bright vermilion-painted main hall and worship hall. In particular, the main hall is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, and its elaborate carvings and solemn structure are a must-see. It is also the starting point of the Yoshidaguchi Trail, a mountain trail for Mt. Fuji, and many climbers once set out from here to climb Mt. Fuji.

[Hidden gem]
The main hall and the married couple of cypress trees are popular, but it is also recommended to pass through the torii gate of the Yoshidaguchi Trail at the back of the precincts and walk a little along the mountain trail. The quiet atmosphere gives you a sense of the strictness of the worship of Mt. Fuji in the past. Also, there are fewer tourists in the early morning, making it a hidden gem where you can enjoy the sacred atmosphere of the shrine in the clear air.
