Nankinmachi, located in Kobe's Chuo Ward, is one of Japan's three largest Chinatowns, alongside Yokohama Chinatown and Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown. More than 100 stores are packed into this narrow area, measuring approximately 200 meters east to west and 110 meters north to south, creating a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Its greatest draw is the opportunity to casually sample a variety of dim sum and Chinese sweets, including pork buns, xiaolongbao, and Peking duck. Steaming steaming steaming buns and freshly baked xiaolongbao are sure to whet your appetite.

The square in the center of Nankinmachi is a popular and always bustling spot for relaxation. Decorated with auspicious stone statues of animals and traditional Chinese decorations, the square exudes an exotic atmosphere. There are also many restaurants surrounding the square serving authentic Chinese cuisine, perfect for lunch or dinner.

In addition to gourmet food, Nankinmachi offers plenty of shopping, with many stores selling Chinese goods and ingredients. We also recommend purchasing Chinese sweets, Chinese tea, panda goods, and other souvenirs. Various events are held throughout the year, including the Chinese New Year Festival.

It's smaller than Yokohama Chinatown, but we recommend sampling the sights while you're walking around.
