Located in the mountains of Shiga, this art museum is like a paradise. Designed by the designer of the Louvre, you can enjoy ancient and Japanese art in a space that blends in with nature.
MIHO MUSEUM is an art museum built to blend into the rich nature of Shigaraki Town, Shiga Prefecture. Designed by architect I.M. Pei, the concept is based on the "Shangri-La" depicted in ancient Chinese stories.

The approach to the museum is characterized by an avenue lined with weeping cherry trees, a silver tunnel, and a suspension bridge, allowing you to enjoy beautiful scenery throughout the seasons. Many of the buildings are buried underground, with consideration given to the landscape.

The museum holds and exhibits a wide range of collections, from ancient art from Egypt, Greece, and Rome to Japanese tea ceremony art. You can leisurely view the precious art in a bright exhibition space that uses natural light.
