Uji matcha is matcha grown in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, and is known as the highest quality matcha.
Gion Tsujiri Gion Main Store is located in the heart of Gion, facing Shijo Street in front of Yasaka Shrine. The first floor is a retail and takeout stand, where you can enjoy "Gion sweets while walking," from fragrant matcha soft serve ice cream and matcha lattes to seasonal limited edition items. A wide selection of boxed sweets and tea leaves is also available, making it convenient for finding souvenirs for your trip. A few seats in the back make it a great place to take a quick break.
The second and third floors of the building are home to the sweets shop of sister brand Saryo Tsujiri. Enjoy parfaits, anmitsu, and high-quality thin tea here at the "Uji tea cafe." Gion Tsujiri's ingenuity allows you to choose your preferred dining situation, from "easy takeout" to "sitting down in the teahouse," based on the tourist flow. Pair it with a stroll through the streets of Gion, Hanamikoji, and the Shirakawa area, and you'll have an experience that's both photogenic and memorable for its flavors.
