Hoshi Shrine is located on the summit of Mount Hoshigami in Maho, Kita-ku, Okayama City. It is an ancient shrine that conveys the legend of meteorites and worship of the stars, and is a hidden power spot with a magnificent view of the rock altar and the open sky.
Hoshi Shrine is an ancient shrine said to have been founded during the Nara period after three stars fell from the sky. According to shrine legend, a sacred cloud covered the area for 35 days, during which a star-like light appeared. The shrine began as a place to worship and enshrine the three stars and three rocks. The main deity is Mikamihayahi-no-Mikoto. As the shrine's name, which strongly reflects reverence for stars and celestial bodies, suggests, worshippers who pay their respects to the star god quietly make their way here.

The shrine is located in Manaboshi, Kita-ku, Okayama City. The shrine buildings stand side by side near the summit of Mount Hoshigami, and are dotted with boulders and rock altars. The grounds offer a panoramic view of the mountains and vast sky, and on clear days, the contrast of light and shadow makes it a recommended spot for photography. Information on receiving a goshuin (temple seal) is available at the nearby Kagoshima Shrine. The star-themed items and history of the shrine will add a special touch to your travel memories.
