Horikoshi Shrine is a place where you can make a once-in-a-lifetime wish. It is an ancient shrine with ties to Shitennoji Temple, and is a power spot for sightseeing in Osaka where you can enjoy the history of Chausuyama and a stroll around Tennoji Park together.
Located at the foot of Mt. Chausuyama, at the northern end of Tennoji Park, this shrine is one of the Seven Shrines of Shitennoji Temple. It is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku during the reign of Empress Suiko in memory of his uncle, Emperor Sushun, the 32nd Emperor of Japan. The shrine's name comes from the fact that there was once a moat south of the temple grounds, and people would "cross the moat" to make pilgrimages. The surrounding area is the Chausuyama Battlefield, the site of the Winter and Summer Sieges of Osaka, creating a unique atmosphere where historical sites and urban greenery intertwine.

Horikoshi Shrine is known for its "One Dream Prayer," a legend that says it is "a god who will grant your once-in-a-lifetime wish." The unique ritual of writing a single wish on a strip of paper, enclosing it in a charm bag, and receiving a prayer is popular, and requests can also be made by mail for those living far away. Goshuin stamps are awarded in a simple format. A wide variety of charms are available, including those for protection from evil, academic success, and good relationships, making it an attractive option for tourists.

After worshiping, it's a short walk to Tennoji Park "Tenshiba" and the Osaka Municipal Museum of Fine Arts. You can leisurely enjoy the historical scenery of Chausuyama while exploring the seasonal flowers, lawn spaces, and cafes.
