Miwa Shrine is a shrine located in Osu, Naka Ward, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is a shrine that was originally derived from Miwa Shrine in Sakurai City, Nara Prefecture, and is known as the god of matchmaking and is popular among women.
Located in Osu, Naka Ward, Nagoya, Miwa Shrine is known as the "Forest of Happiness," founded in 1570. The enshrined deity is Omononushi-no-Mikoto (Okuninushi-no-Mikoto), and is known for granting blessings in matchmaking and fulfilling relationships. Though located in the city center, the shrine grounds are shrouded in tranquility, and the layout makes it easy to visit for a short visit, from the torii gate to the main building and sub-shrines. Accessible on foot from Sakae, Yabacho, and Kamimaezu, the shrine's appealing location makes it a convenient spot to stop by in between sightseeing.

The shrine's most famous feature is its sacred "Matchmaking Tree." It's customary to tie a red thread to the 450-year-old camphor tree and entrust your wishes to it, making for a photogenic and memorable experience. The grounds also house a "happy pat rabbit," and it's customary to gently stroke it to receive blessings. Another must-see is the Miwa Torii, a gate that is said to grant triple blessings if you pass through it in the shape of an eight. This is a power spot open to those praying for good relationships, academic success, career success, and all other kinds of connections.

The "Pat the Happiness Rabbit" is also popular, as it is said that stroking it will bring you happiness. The rabbit's hopping movements are said to bring good fortune, and its long ears are said to attract good luck.
